At present, the Asia-Pacific region is home to some of the world’s most advanced 5G markets. Nine markets have launched commercial mobile 5G services (including Japan at the end of March), and 12 markets have officially announced related development plans.

In addition, 4G is still the main technology of countries such as Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Pakistan. These countries still focus on the fields of digital commerce and payment and cross-ecosystem cooperation to help create the future digital society.

Regional Growth

By the end of 2019, 2.8 billion people in the Asia-Pacific region have subscribed to mobile services, accounting for 66% of the total population. Since 2014, nearly 500 million new users have been added to the region, making it one of the fastest growing regions in the world, accounting for more than half of total global users.

It is estimated that by 2025, the Asia-Pacific region will account for about half of new global users. By then, it is predicted that the entire region will have 266 million new user connections, bringing the number of subscribers to more than 3 billion (accounting for 70% of the population).
